There is a wonderful mantra that is chanted in the closing prayer of Ashtanga Yoga saying: Lokha Samasta Sukino Bavantu. In Sanskrit it means: “I commit that every word, thought and action is directed to the happiness of the people around me.” And I would add, to my own happiness.
This coherence between word, thought and action makes me think of the concept of Integrity. When a person is complete, when he acts coherently with his thoughts, he respects his true nature. The person who respects his true nature is on the path of Tao. Everything flows in his life and can enjoy fully every moment.
Also a famous French psychologist wrote that in her long career she had come to the conclusion that people who were disconnected from themselves, who suffered from anxiety or depression, in other words who did not feel good in their own skin, thus losing their compass of their existence, they were people who had distanced themselves from their true nature. An integrated person who respects his true nature is on the path of the Tao. She enjoys life because she respects herself and, consequently, the others respect her.
It seems like a simple thing to be complete. But is not. How many times do you stop to reflect that you were just thinking something in a certain way but you behaved in a contradictory one? Out of fear, out of habit, to be accepted, to love others more than yourself. I invite you to carry this message in your next meditation so that the heart (the most sincere part of us) feels it and the mind elaborates it accordingly.
Remember that Yoga and Meditation are tools for internal work, to observe yourself deeply and help you have a free and detached attitude towards life.
Don’t stay in situations that don’t make you feel good because of fear or culture.
Respect your needs. Truly love yourself.
