Christmas time is often the enemy of physical fitness. We let ourselves be carried away by huge family meals, that although are wonderful moments of togetherness, too often, guide us to abandon the healthiest habits. And what happens? The holidays end and we feel bloated, heavy, lacking energy and focus and with an uncomfortable feeling of guilt. And above all, we really want to get out of this sensation and feel good in our skin again.

What happened to our body during the holidays?

If we have exaggerated with fatty and acidifying foods, the liver and intestine have suffered from our excesses and we feel more tired, more nervous and more bloated. And if we have exaggerated with sugars, we might feel more pain in the joints and back and we might notice an altered nervous system. We are actually experiencing a process of acidification and consequent possible inflammation of the body.

Christmas excesses have acidified the body. Body acidification refers to the fact that certain foods, such as red meat, dairy, and refined grains, produce more acid in the body than other foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains with consequent lowering of the immune system.

And when flu viruses approach during this winter period, we might be more exposed to get sick.

The human body has a slightly alkaline pH, with a value between 7.35 and 7.45. When the pH decreases, the body becomes more acidic. This can occur due to a series of factors, such as a diet rich in acidic foods typical of Christmas time.

Acidification can lead to a number of health problems, including fatigue, muscle pain, skin problems and increased risk of chronic diseases.

If you also feel tired, bloated and lacking energy and good mood after this vacation, I advise you to take the control back on your nutrition and reverse the process.

The miracles of conscious eating

Conscious eating can help you without restrictive diets because it is not a diet, it is a way of eating. The one that leads you to long-term results. Most diets are very restrictive and last a few weeks and then suddenly you fall into the same old traps again.

With mindful eating you can feel good again long term with just a little initial discipline and the game is done. You just need a little willpower, love for yourself and a desire to be well.
